What We Believe
We are: A congregation committed to making disciples through evangelism and nurture.
God
There is a God. Only one God, in fact. He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has existed for eternity in three persons: Father, Son and Spirit. The three are equal and are one.
(Genesis 1:1, 1:26-27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
Jesus
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, equal with the Holy Spirit and the Father. He was conceived by the Spirit, born of the virgin (Mary), lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days, being more powerful than sin and death. He ascended into Heaven and will return again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
(Matthew 1:18-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus
2:13)
Holy Spirit
Being an equal part of the Trinity with the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian at the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding spiritual truth, and guidance in doing God's will. The Christian seeks to live under His control and direction daily.
(2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18)
Bible
The Bible is God's Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the only source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalms 119:105, 119:160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)
Humans
We as human beings are made in the image of God to be like Him. We are the best of His creation and love. Every person has tremendous potential for good, but we have also all fallen away in disobedience to God, in "sin." This attitude separates us from
God until the relationship is restored through a personal commitment to Jesus Christ, and we accept Him as our Lord and Savior.
(Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2)
Salvation
We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus. Those accepting Christ as their savior repent of their sin, confess their faith and are baptized into Him. Forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust and obey Christ as their savior and Lord.
(Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16; Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38)
WE TEACH AND PLEAD FOR
The Bible as the only rule of faith and practice (II Timothy 3:16,17)
Christian as the name of Christ’s followers (Acts 11:26; 26:28)
Church unity (John 17:20,21; I Corinthians 1:10)
Baptism of believers (Mark 16:15; Acts 2:38, 41; 16:32-34)
Baptism by immersion (Mark 1:5-10; John 3:23; Acts 8:26-40; Romans 6:1-6)
Living the Christian life, working as if all depended on us, trusting as if all
depends on Christ (Hebrews 12:1,2)
